Safety & people — how a responsible lead plant behaves

Lead is a material that must be respected, and a battery plant is judged by how seriously it takes that respect. This page states how Microtex works: the controls, the health disciplines, and the belief underneath them — written plainly, for our people, their families, and the buyers who audit us.

Engineering controls first  —  Hygiene as discipline, not decoration  —  Health monitoring for exposed roles  —  Training over blame

The order of protection

Protection at Microtex follows the honest hierarchy: engineering controls first — ventilation, extraction and process design that keep exposure down before any mask is worn; hygiene discipline second — washing, changing and eating rules that keep the plant’s work out of workers’ homes; protective equipment third, issued and enforced, never treated as the whole answer; and health monitoring for exposed roles, because in a lead plant you manage what you measure. The specifics of our monitoring programme are shared with auditors and regulators as documentation, where specifics belong.

No such thing as a stupid operator

House doctrine, learned on our own factory floor: there are no stupid operators — only people who care and people who don’t, and caring is trainable. When something goes wrong here, the first question is “what did the process fail to tell this person?”, not “who do we blame?”. The operators who run our machines routinely know exactly why a defect happened — a plant’s job is to ask them, train them, and act on what they say. That culture is why our quality system works and why people stay.

FIG. 1 — THE FLOOR THAT TAUGHT US · PEENYA

People, plainly

A family-owned company since 1969 employs the way it manufactures: for the long term. Training that compounds, promotion from the floor, and the founder’s standard — integrity before personal gain — applied to how people are treated, not just how batteries are made. We are hiring more often than not: see Careers.

For auditors

Occupational-health documentation, policies and records are provided to qualifying customers and regulators through the enquiry route, and the plant is open to audit. We would rather show you than tell you.

Good batteries come from plants that look after their people. Audit ours.
