Environment, Social and Governance at Microtex Energy
Utilities, OEMs and export customers increasingly qualify suppliers on ESG criteria alongside price and specification. Environment — a product born circular, made under discipline
The lead-acid battery is among the most recycled industrial products on earth — about 99% of the lead in a returned battery is recovered and re-enters manufacture. Our registrations make that circularity enforceable, and our processes make it real:
- Registered Producer under Rule 4 of the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 — CPCB Registration № 11041053 (2024–2029): take-back through authorised channels, annual returns filed, and the absolute conditions honoured — no landfilling, no incineration of battery waste.
- ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management (certificate GR23-301589), governing materials, effluents and waste inside the plant.
- Clean processes since 1969 — the founder’s rule, older than every certificate on this page. Acid-handling areas are engineered for containment, and process waste leaves only through authorised recyclers.
- A tree planted with every traction battery sold in India since 2017 — over 5,100 trees. Not dressed up as a carbon claim; simply a habit we are glad of.

Social — how a responsible lead plant behaves
- Protection follows the honest hierarchy: engineering controls first — ventilation, extraction and process design — then hygiene discipline, then PPE, issued and enforced, never treated as the whole answer.
- Health monitoring for exposed roles — in a lead plant you manage what you measure. Monitoring documentation is shared with auditors and regulators, where specifics belong.
- All employment is formal: Provident Fund and ESI registrations current, wages at or above Karnataka minimum wage, working hours per the Factories Act, 1948. No child labour and no forced labour — verifiable in our statutory registers at any audit.
- Internal Complaints Committee under the POSH Act, 2013 constituted; policy and committee contact available to employees and on request.
- The accident register is maintained as required by the Inspector of Factories and is available at audit; fire and emergency mock drills are conducted at the plant.
- A no-blame training culture — when something goes wrong, the first question is what the process failed to tell the person, not who to blame. People are trained from the floor up and stay.

- Quality governance: ISO 9001:2015 certified since 2005. Product claims are made the same way: type-tested at CPRI with report numbers published — claims verifiable is a house rule, not a slogan.
- Business ethics: integrity before personal gain is the founder’s standard — we do not pay or accept bribes and we do not engage in anti-competitive arrangements. Complaints reach info@microtex.com and are acknowledged the same working day.
- Your IP is protected: NDAs before drawings move; customer specifications and drawings handled under the quality system’s document control.
- Supplier codes of conduct: we review and sign customer codes of conduct as part of onboarding, and complete customer ESG questionnaires in full.

Europe’s new battery rulebook brings the battery passport and carbon-footprint declarations to industrial batteries.
